Our story
The power of Y
A while ago I wrote a post about finding your why: the real reason you train, eat well and look after yourself. Someone at work joked that I should trademark “Y-power”. It stuck with me, because I think it’s true. There’s always a reason people want to be healthier and happier. The question is: what’s yours?
Mine is my daughter, my family
I became a dad at 35. I did the maths early. When she’s 20, I’ll be 55. When she’s 30, I’ll be 65. When she’s 40, I’ll be 75. So I want to be fit, healthy and happy well into old age, and enjoy as much of her life as I possibly can.
If she wants to travel, do a triathlon, or kayak down the Nile at 20, I want to be strong enough to be right there with her.
That’s my why. Yours will be different, and that’s the point.
Why I built HYLTH
When I first found mine, I was training with a coach who used an app. It was good, but I kept wanting it to do things it couldn’t. Inspired by that experience, I started coaching a few clients part-time alongside my corporate job. I looked for a better platform and hit the same frustrations: nothing quite worked the way I wanted, or engaged my clients the way I hoped.
At the same time, AI was becoming a big topic at work, and I felt a little behind the curve. So I gave myself a project: build my own app, fill the gaps I kept running into, and learn by doing. I went deeper, and deeper, and one day realised I was building something really good. My dreams started getting bigger.
That’s HYLTH, with a Y.
Everyone’s why is different
Some people want to build muscle, lose weight or get lean. Some want to run a marathon, or run one faster. Some want to cycle around the world, sail the Atlantic or finish an Ironman. Some simply want to find peace, let go of anxiety and be happy.
Whatever your why, HYLTH is the tool that helps you get there. It plans, tracks your progress, keeps your results, and gives you someone to talk to, bounce ideas off and be accountable to, alongside yourself and your why, everything in one place.
What’s your why?
